 Job description

Working with a diverse team, including full-time staff and a score of high-profile contributors, the digital content engagement manager will be responsible for all digital content marketing activities, including outbound messaging, social media campaigns, content partnership management, and syndication of Back9Network content across its own and affiliated digital properties. Activities will include, but not be limited to, the following: 

  • Brainstorming campaigns and positioning that leverages our social media platforms and outbound services, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and more
  • Owning the editorial calendar for social media sites and outbound messaging services, including daily and weekly newsletters
  • Interact with external parties, such as creative agencies, content curators, and social media platforms, to source relevant and remarkable content
  • Managing all day-to-day activities related to fan engagement, engaging in dialogues and answering fan questions, for example) and publishing content according to editorial calendars
  • Staying up-to-date on new social media trends, bringing new ideas to the table
  • Writing and publishing content on an ongoing basis, including content unique to the daily and weekly newsletters, and/or coordinating with contributors for those services
  • Interacting with fans, followers, viewers on our social media sites in a responsible, engaging, fun manner -- we’re a lifestyle brand, and our personality needs to shine in every medium
  • Driving positive consumer engagement in the community
  • Engaging with key influencers and advocacy agents to amplify our message in their social graphs
  • Monitoring Back9Network return on engagement (ROE) metrics on a daily basis, report on them appropriately, and help us draw the proper actionable conclusions 
  • Attracting more fans and followers across verticals, including travel, wine, food, cars, and other realms, to ensure our messages reach large audiences
  • Communicating on trends, interesting posts, key influencers, questions and problems that arise during daily assignment

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field
  • Minimum 3+ years professional work experience in Community Management
  • Minimum 2+ years experience using tools for social media publishing, monitoring and reporting, e.g., OutBrain, Wildfire, HootSuite

Preferred traits:

  • Strong passion for social media marketing and fan engagement
  • Strong passion for lifestyle topics, including travel, food, humor, wine and spirits, and pop culture
  • At least a casual interest in sports, golf specifically, is a necessity, but if you’re only interested in being a golf nerd and can’t think broadly about the lifestyle of people who play, you’re not going to fit, either
  • Previous history of content marketing and customer engagement for large media brands is strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and an outstanding attention to detail
  • Must be able to conceive, draft, proofread, edit, and maintain editorial calendars and responses
  • Strong analytics monitoring skills and history of using third-party analytics tools
  • Adept interpersonal and communication skills
  • Outstanding time management skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Excellent project management skills and strong attention to detail (ability to plan and anticipate challenges, manage resources, bring cross functional teams together, and maintain budgets)
  • Ability to coach others on the team in engaging fans responsibly 
  • Team player and the ability to work independently
  • Agency experience might be helpful
  • You harbor much disdain for typographic errors.

Job description 

Working with a diverse team, including full-time staff and a score of high-profile contributors, and reporting to the director of digital programming, the senior Web producer is responsible for producing top-shelf digital media content that our fans find engaging, is aligned with the tone and timber of the Back9Network style and mission, and supports all our efforts to engage not just fans, but also the professional athletes, celebrities, sponsors, and other media brands affiliated with Back9Network. 

Activities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Owning the editorial calendar for your assigned beat in the Back9Network lifestyle media team, you will craft content plans that are timely, topical, and engaging
  • Producing content according to that plan, working across the internal team, freelance resources, external design and development people
  • Coordinating closely with the digital engagement manager to ensure that content is not created in a vacuum, your plans will consider every aspect of what we do as a media brand, from how we create it, to what assets we need, to who might want to sponsor it, to how we should position it in our live streaming products, to how we talk about it to our fans
  • Writing whatever pieces need to be written, sourcing photos from all relevant resources, helping to script video content, and holding yourself accountable for creating content that would be considered amongst the best on the Web; you won’t be writing articles, then dumping a link on Twitter, then moving on to the next article
  • Participating in the ongoing, daily, outbound digital media activities, including social media, that supports directly our overall mission and your content goals
  • Collaborating with sales and product people to craft content offerings that appeal to our key sponsors
  • Being a standard bearer for the Back9Network tone and timber... we are responsibly outspoken, we’re inclusive, we’re snarky, we like fun, and you are adamant about maintaining that tone

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field
  • Minimum 4+ years professional work experience in producing content for a media company using standard content management systems/workflows
  • Minimum 2+ years experience using tools for social media publishing, monitoring and reporting, e.g., OutBrain, Wildfire, HootSuite 

Preferred traits

  • Proven, long history of producing top-shelf-quality content for a major media brand, at a broad campaign level, from ideation to writing to creating photo galleries to helping sales to land a sponsor for it
  • Ability to jump into any content management system and quickly begin contributing
  • Solid history of crafting video scripts, photo galleries, multi-component content packages
  • Total lack of fear of Photoshop, Excel, Keynote, long hours, weekend work, dubstep 
  • A background in lifestyle media, whether travel, food, consumer services, pop culture, or media
  • A casual interest in sports, and golf generally, will help enormously; an even stronger interest in humor and pop culture is necessary
  • Deep understanding of SEO and what it takes to attract users algorithmically
  • Deeper understanding of how social media supports content sharing 
  • Yet deeper understanding of how social media IS content and how it makes people feel about our brand
  • You’re a writer at heart, you know what I mean by that, and you have a strong opinion, in the affirmative, about the use of the Oxford comma.

Job description

Working with a diverse team, including full-time staff and a score of high-profile contributors, and reporting to the company’s overall digital lead, the director of digital programming will be responsible for every facet of the ideation, production, and implementation of the highest-possible quality digital content for the Back9Nation. activities will include:

  • First and foremost, you are the managing editor of Back9Network’s digital properties and the team behind them, managing directly the Back9Network digital editorial staff, its work schedule, its assignments, and coordinating its overall workflow across and within content packages, verticals, and engagement models
  • Coordinating contributions in a timely and topical fashion from our top-notch freelance staff, ensuring they are contributing directly to the ongoing flow of content creation
  • Coordinating with our brand ambassadors, including affiliated media personalities, to procure content that raises visibility for them and Back9Network as one collective voice
  • Ensuring that the tone and timber of all Back9Network content adheres to our style... we are responsibly outspoken, we’re inclusive, we’re snarky, we like fun, and you are adamant about maintaining that tone
  • Owning and maintaining the overall editorial calendar for Back9Network digital properties, across every facet, including the Web, social media, and outbound services, such as newsletters
  • Conceptualizing and executing on plans to create top-shelf-quality content that engages our fans, our partners, and our sponsors
  • Where necessary, doing it yourself. Any of it. Writing an article, building a photo gallery, editing a script, calling a freelancer to manage editorial tweaks. Whatever it takes to ensure we establish and hold on to a constant drumbeat of quality content. 

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field
  • Minimum 6+ years professional work experience in producing content for a media company using standard content management systems/workflows
  • Minimum 3+ years experience using tools for social media publishing, monitoring and reporting, e.g., OutBrain, Wildfire, HootSuite
  • Minimum 4+ years experience in managing editorial operations for a large media brand, including oversight of producers, freelancers, design resources 

Preferred traits

  • History of participating in the product management roadmap and lifecycle for content creation and management tools
  • A deep appreciation for project management best practices, including resource balancing
  • History of managing a 24/7/365 media operation with multiple user-facing properties
  • Proven ability to craft editorial planning documentation both to drive new eyeballs and capitalize with agility on breaking news
  • A history of working with large lifestyle brands, especially around travel, food, wine, gaming, gear, cars, or consumer services
  • Total lack of fear of long hours, startup mentality, Photoshop, Wu Tang Clan, or Oxford commas
  • As a matter of fact, you demand the use of Oxford commas, style guides, and Wu Tang Clan.
  • A casual interest, at least, in sports and sports lifestyle topics, especially those pertaining to golf, is strongly preferred
  • You think “Caddyshack” is hilarious.
